Situated in the Eastern Himalayas, this beautiful state of Sikkim is sandwiched between the kingdom of Nepal and Bhutan.

About Sikkim Dzongri Trekking:

Situated in the Eastern Himalayas, this beautiful state of Sikkim is sandwiched between the kingdom of Nepal in the West and Bhutan in the East, Tibet in the North and the state of West Bengal in the South. With an area of 7,300 sq. kms, measuring 115 kms from north to south and 65 kms. From East to West, the elevation ranging from 244 mts to over 8550 mts., above sea level, approximately latitude of 27 degree North and longitude of 88 degree East. This small state belies its richness of culture, customs, heritage, flora and fauna. Sikkim, once a protectorate of India with a monarchy government but metamorphosed as the 22nd state of the Indian Union in the year 1975. The population of the state is only 4,20,000 as per the last census. Amidst the grandeur of the mountain peaks, lush green valleys cascading waterfalls and fast flowing rivers, beautiful monasteries and terraced hills, Sikkim offers her visitor a rare and exotic experience.

Day 01: Pick up at Bhadrapur transer to Gangtok (1547m) 174 kms about 5-6 hrs drive . O/N Hotel

Day 02: Gangtok seght seeing, visit Rumtek Monastery 24 kms 45 minutes drive, on the way back visit ,institute of Tibetology, Do –Drul Chorten, visit Government Institute of Cottage industry , Enchey Monastery, O/N hotel

Day 03: Transfer to Yuksam (1780 m) 133 kms via Temi Tea estate, the only Tea Estate in Sikkim ,Yuksam , the frist capital of Sikkim and where frist king ( Chogyal) was crowned in 1641 AD O/N Camp

Day 04: Trek to tshoka (3005 m ) 16 km 6-7 hrs walk O/N Camp

Day 05: Trek to Dzongri (4030 m) 9 km 4-5 hrs walk O/N Camp

Day 06: Dzongri explore around O/ N camp

Day 07: Trek to Thansing (3930 m) 6 km 3-4 hrs walk O/N camp

Day 08: Trek to samiti Lake (4250 m) 4 km 3-4 hrs walk O/N

Day 09: Early morning excurion to Goechela (4950m) 6 km and back Thansing 6-7 hrs walk O /N camp

Day 10: Trek back to Tshoka 12 O/N camp

Day 11: Trek back to Yuksam O/N hotel

Day 12: Transfer to Pemayangtse (2085) via Tashiding Monastery 52 km 3 hrs drive O/N Hotel

Day 13: After breakfast visit Pemayangtse Monastery , it is one of the most important and oldest Monastery in Sikkim belongs to the Nyingmapa sect of Buddhim, inside the Monastery there is a wooden structure depicting the Maha Guru ‘s havenly palace a masterpiece created by Late Dungzin Rinpoche , walk Sangacholing Monastery , transfer to Kalimpong 96 km 3-4 hrs drive , O/N hotel

Day 14: Kalimpong (1243) visit some flower nurseries, Durpin Monastery , O/N hotel

Day 15: Early morning , transfer to Bhadrapur airport.

  • Sleeping bag, warm to 20 degrees F, either down or fibrefill (or you can rent one in Kathmandu)
  • Parka, down or fibre fill; a ski jacket is ok
  • Sweater, wool shirt or acrylic pile jacket
  • Duffel bag, canvas or nylon, without a frame (for porters to carry)
  • Daypack or rucksack, waterproof, for you to carry
  • Water bottle 1 liter or 1 quart; be sure that it does not leak
  • Flashlight

We INSIST that an appropriate insurance policy is taken out which covers travel in isolated and mountainous areas, and which also includes helicopter rescue.
We recommend that you consult a reputable travel agent or insurance specialist.

Health Issues
We recommend that all clients consult their doctor to discuss the health issues associated with their trek. We also recommend that clients bring their own personal first aid kit to supplement the comprehensive first aid kit carried by the Trek Leader

Vaccinations Required
Please ensure that you allow at least 1 month to complete a course of vaccinations. Whilst your personal doctor will be the final authority,

  • Typhoid
  • Rabies
  • Meningococcal
  • Immunoglobulin (for Hepatitis A)
