What is Helambu Trekking?

How long is the Helambu Trek?

While the itinerary is flexible and can be molded as per your schedule and requirements, the suggested duration for the Helambu trekking is 7 days as presented in our itinerary. Out of these days, five days will be spent on the trekking journey and the rest two days will be arrival and departure days.

Best Seasons for Helambu Trekking

Nepal offers four distinct seasons throughout the year namely Spring (March-May), Summer (June-August), Autumn (September-December), and Winter (December-February). The best seasons for the Helambu trekking are considered to be Autumn and Spring. The weather during these seasons is stable, with clear skies and crystal-clear views of the mountains, alongside vibrant landscapes featuring perfectly blooming Rhododendrons in Spring. While the trek is possible during Summer and Winter too, it is not recommended as much due to unpredictable weather and slippery trails.

Level of Difficulty for Helambu Trekking

One of the beauties of this trek lies in its simplicity and less physical exertion. Considering the altitude, trails, and duration of the trek, this trek is graded ‘Not Difficult’ and can be accomplished with a basic level of fitness. With proper team and preparation, this trek is suitable for families and first-time trekkers.

Packing Essentials for Helambu Trekking

While the packing essentials depend on the season you choose, we recommend you carry only the basic amenities required for the trek. The major tip is to pack lightly. Moreover, packing clothes in layers helps you adjust to the changing temperatures throughout the ascending and descending trails. Nepal Visa Process

All foreign nationals can obtain a visa on arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Nepal. For visa on arrival, you will only require your passport with at least 6 months validity, a passport-sized photo, and visa fees.

An exception lies for Indian citizens not requiring visas, and for SAARC country citizens not requiring visa fees.

Helambu Trekking Detail Itinerary


01
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport Kathmandu, one of our representatives will be welcoming you. You will then be transferred to the hotel for check-in in the company’s private car. The rest of the day will be some relaxing time to get familiar with the environment, and explore the taste of the city.

Day 02: Drive to Sundarijal – Trek to Chisapani

We commence our journey on the second day after a quick breakfast, followed by an hour’s drive to Sundarijal. Upon reaching the charming village, our trekking journey starts. Following a trail through lush forests, we reach our destination Chisapani after a good 4-5 hours trek. The trails on this day are easy and comfortable, greeting you with the peaceful aura of the Himalayan air.

Day 03: Trek from Chisapani to Kutumsang

Starting the day by following the trails through forests, we have a 6-hour trek scheduled for this day to reach our destination Kutumsang located at an altitude of 2,470m. The trails we follow on this day surprise us with a picturesque view of the Himalayan ranges including the Langtang and Ganesh Himal ranges.

Day 04: Trek from Kutumsang to Tarkeghyang

The trails today take us through one of the most beautiful ridge walks in Nepal, charming villages, and its ancient monasteries. Soaking in the breathtaking views of the mountain ranges of Langtang and Ganesh Himal throughout the journey, we reach Tarkeghyang located at an altitude of 2,560m, to stay overnight.

Day 05: Melamchigaon to Sermathang (2590m): Trek

The fifth day offers us diverse scenic views, from terraced fields to amazing mountain vistas. Witnessing the traditional way of living of the local community and enjoying the tranquil nature, we descend to Sermathang at an altitude of 2,500m. Sermathang is popular for its apple garden. The delightful village offers a peaceful ambiance with a panoramic view of the Himalayas, providing us with a perfect place to relax and reflect.

Day 6: Trek Melamchi Pul Bazar – Drive to Kathmandu

We follow a descending trail from Sermathang, enjoying the final bits and pieces of the beauty that the place offers, to reach Melamchi Pul Bazar. Melamchi Pul Bazar is a local marketplace, where you can explore the souvenirs and interact with the hospitable locals. From Melamchi, we drive back to Kathmandu.

Day 7: Departure Day

You can enjoy some last-minute shopping in the city before you leave for the airport. Our team will bid you farewell and transfer you to the airport, depending on your flight schedule. With a unique perspective of simple living and memories of a lifetime, we end our journey here.
