The Langtang Rhododendrons Trek Overview

This is one of those unusual trips that takes you through waves of lovely Rhododendrons – Nepal’s only national flower which the country is truly proud of and is known in Nepal as the ‘Laligurans’. Many hotels, restaurants, trek and tour companies proudly go by the name of this exquisite flower. Nepal’s tourism industry use the name of this beautiful flower for every business purpose which is said to bring good fortune; this flower is also used for wedding ceremonies in this Himalayan nation from where these flowers grow wild and free, lighting up the mountains with breathtaking beauty. It is on the basis of this beautiful flower that we have specially designed a unique trek that traces the trails from where these flowers are seen in blanket formation for miles on the mountains of the vast Annapurna range and the sublime Langtang region. These unique flowers are found in abundance in these regions of Nepal particularly, more than anywhere else.

The Rhododendrons View Trail is a part of the Langtang Gosainkunda trek which is the primary zone from where these graceful flowers are seen in plenty, set in the backdrops of some extraordinary mountain landscapes. Our journey starts from the midhills of Langtang valley from where we see the pretty flowers blooming in a blasting red colour during spring and its fantastic spectacle to experience. But as we go to higher altitudes, we notice the colour of these Rhododendrons tend to change to a pinkish shade of wonderful beauty that would have even made King Solomon of the bible feel jealous with all his riches and the beauty he was surrounded with. In some areas these rhododendrons are also found to be snow white with soft petals.

As we hike the trails, we are likely to bump into many Pilgrims and ascetics heading for the Holy lake of Gosaikunda which is most likely in the course of the trek. This trek takes us through this vast range of rhododendrons with famous peaks in the backgrounds and while hiking the paths, we sweep through friendly villages with welcoming people where the culture tells us of the way of life in these hindu and Buddhists villages who spend most of their lives on the Himalayas. This trip is a wonderful experience of how nature, Rhododendrons and the spiritual aspects of the Himalayas teaches us to appreciate the elements as much as we come to see the naturalness of the wilderness at its finest..
