Approx. 68 / 69 km or 43 miles from Lukla to Everest base camp and back to Gorakshep. The mileage is not included on the climb of Kalapathar, which is optional.

All our guides are well-trained in Acute Mountain Sickness or AMS, and the guides have trained on basic medical treatment annually. For minor illnesses and wounds, the guide can help. But for major critical situations of illness. The patient needs to be evacuated immediately by the fastest means of transportation.

10) Does the company provide oxygen and Gamow / Pressure Bags?

Family Adventures provides portable oxygen cylinders, small light canisters, and Gamow Bags for climbing peaks. For trekking that includes high passes, the company provides the necessary items for clients’ safety. The guides carry only basic medical equipment and a First Aid Kit. Everest Base Camp Trek 7 Days Detail Itinerary

Fly to Lukla and trek to Phakding.

Family Adventure guides or staff will receive you from your respective hotels for a short transfer to the domestic airport. Get checked through the security, as time for the early flight, then board a small aircraft. Either Twin Otter, Dornier, or similar STOL aircraft built for short airstrips. Like the unique Lukla’s Tenzing & Hillary Airport, during airborne enjoy the Himalayan panorama with views of
Mt. Everest. On arrival at Lukla Airport, our trekking staff and guides will receive you and then start the walk to Phakding. It is a pleasant walk with short downs and ups, following the Dudh Koshi River to Phakding for an overnight halt.

Lukla 2,860 m/ 9,384 ft. Phakding 2,610 m/ 8,563 ft.

Walking distance approx. 08 km or 05 miles. 3-4 hours treks.

Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla approx. 135 km/84 miles air distance of 30-35 minutes flight.

Trek to Namche Bazaar.

After breakfast, walk on a pleasant winding path with short ups and downs.
Then cross a long bridge, above Dudh Koshi River, and a short climb to Chumo and lovely Monjo village. The trail leads towards the Sagarmatha National Park entrance. Sagarmatha is the name of Everest in Nepal.

The Sherpa calls Chomolungma similar to Tibetan languages. Sagarmatha National Park is on the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites. Then, walk down and up to cross the same river to Jorsalle, the last village before Namche Bazaar. After lunch at Jorsalle, walk on the riverbed amidst a dense forest of rhododendrons and pine trees. The trail crosses the bridge, and then a long, winding climb leads to Namche Bazaar.

Namche Bazaar is a moderate town with colorful and well-built houses serving as lodges and hotels. Enjoy the comfort in the best lodges with views of the Kwangde Himal range and Tharmasarku peaks. It is an interesting stroll the streets of Namche Bazaar, which are lined with shops and well-stocked stores. Banks and restaurants with fresh bakeries and cafes’

Trek to Tengboche Monastery or Deboche.

rom Namche, the first part of the morning walk leads on a gradual and scenic wide trail with stunning views of Everest. Including the majestic Ama Dablam and adjoining giant peaks, the walk then descends to cross over the Imja Tse River. Then, stop for lunch at Phunki Tenga, a small settlement amidst lovely forest surroundings.

After lunch, climb for two hours or less through a lovely cool shade of dense trees and wind uphill. Finally, the walk reaches a scenic plateau at Tengboche with its colorful monastery. It is the best viewpoint for Everest with the surrounding giant peaks of the Khumbu Himal ranges. At Tengboche, enjoy the views with a short, refreshing rest, with time for the tour of the monastery interior.

Tengboche Monastery is famous for a colorful religious festival called Mani Rimdu. Which takes place in late October or the early week of November.

It is best to cover more distance and head further from Tengboche to a lovely Deboche. It is a scenic and serene area with nice lodges amidst beautiful forest surroundings with views of Everest and Ama Dablam. Check into one of its best lodges for an overnight halt.

Trek to Dingboche

Morning, enjoy the grand views of Everest and Ama Dablam after a short walk down to cross a bridge. The trail climbs uphill to Pangboche; the tall tree lines drop as altitude gains. To reach Pangboche, the last permanent village en route to Everest base camp. This is where the trail to Dingboche and Ama Dablam branches off, as the trek follows with a short climb to Somare for lunch.

After lunch, the afternoon walk follows a gradual uphill around exposed ridges. It gets quite windy with the cold breeze; the walk continues with a short descent to cross a small bridge. Then, with an hour’s climb to Dingboche, a nice settlement, located on the west end of Imjatse Valley. As you stand beneath the towering North Face of Ama Dablam with views of Island Peak. Check into a nice lodge with rooms with great views of snow-capped mountains.

Dingboche 4,410m/ 14,468 ft.

Walking distance approx. 12 km / 7.5 miles. About 5 hours of trekking with lunch stops of 45 minutes to an hour.

Trek to Lobuche.

Enjoying the good walks to Dingboche with pleasant overnight stops. After breakfast, the adventure starts with less than an hour’s climb to a ridge lined with Buddhist prayer flags. It faces superb views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Island Peak, as far as Mt. Makalu. The walks get easier with gentle uphill, then heading above Pheriche Valley. After a few hours of good walking and a short climb to Thugla, where the routes of Pheriche and Dingboche meet.

Thugla is the melting point of the Khumbu Glacier, the source of a tributary stream that joins the Imjatse and Dudh Koshi Rivers.

Enjoy lunch at Thugla, with a few lodges facing views of Taboche and Cholatse peaks at a close distance. After lunch, a half-hour steep climb on top of Thugla Ridge, a small pass. From here on, it is a gradual path for an hour to Lobuche for an overnight stop. Then check into one of the best lodges with views of Nuptse and Lobuche peaks.

Lobuche 4,928m/ 16,168 ft. Walking distance approx. 11 km / 6.5 miles.

About 5 hours of treks with lunch stops of 45 minutes to an hour.

Trek to Everest base camp via Gorak Shep and back.

Start early and carry a packed lunch for the long hour’s walk to Everest Base Camp. After breakfast, walk on a flat, gentle path for a short while and climb towards the rocky sections. Reaching above Khumbu Glacier with a few short ups and downs to Gorak Shep. Our last overnight stops of the adventure after visiting Everest base camp. The walk follows with great views of Mt. Pumori, Mt. Everest, and adjoining peaks. Slowly, the trail ends on reaching Everest’s base camp close to massive Khumbu Icefall. Stand beneath the world’s highest Mt. Everest, from the base camp, views of Mt. Everest are obstructed. The towering peaks of Lhotse, Nuptse, and Lingtrin stand close in front of Everest. During the high season of mountaineering expeditions, the base camp is flooded with tents like a Scout Jamboree. Enjoying and reaching the major highlights of the adventure.

Return hike back to Gorak Shep for last overnight around Khumbu. As well as the highest spot for overnight stops of the 7 days’ treks to Everest base camp.

Climb Kalapathar 5,643 m and fly to Kathmandu from Gorak Shep

The last day of the adventure, rising early before having breakfast, starts with a steep climb for a few hours. To reach the top of a rocky high ridge at Kalapathar, a famous and most popular viewpoint of Khumbu and Everest. From the top of Kalapathar, enjoy the jaw-dropping panorama of staggering towering peaks with close views of Mt. Everest. The best views of Mt. Everest at a mere distance of approx. 6 km. Mt. Pumori stands high in front of Kalapathar ridge after a refreshing morning of glorious views of stunning mountain scenery. Downhill to Gorakshep for breakfast. Get ready packing the gear as the helicopter lands a bit further from the lodges.

Wait for the chopper to land, then meet the expert pilot after being introduced to the pilot and fellow member. Then get on board for an amazing scenic flight to Kathmandu. With a brief stop at Lukla to refuel, the flight continues with the grand vista of the Himalayan ranges. After an hour or less, the Heli makes a soft landing at Kathmandu airport and then walks to the car park. For a short drive to your hotel, after a wonderful experience to Everest base camp trek of 7 days.
