The highest point on the Khumai Danda trek is Korchan Hill, located at 3,700 meters above sea level. Unlike most treks in Nepal, you do not need strong fitness and previous high-altitude experience to trek to Khumai Danda. It is also a short trek and comparatively easier to do.

Hemja is the starting point of Khumai Danda trek. From here, the trail ascends to Ghachowk through rhododendron-forested hills. On the way, the trail gets narrow in some sections, so walking uphill can be a bit tough. Spend a night in Hile Kharka and hike to Khumai Danda the following day.

The trailhead is also easily and quickly accessible from the city. Therefore, even if you trek during the offseason- summer/monsoon (June to August) and winter (December to February), it will not affect your journey that much.

Not only that, but you will also get to enjoy seasonal vegetation and exclusive views. March to May and late September to November have the best weather and climate. The mountain views are excellent in these months.

Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara

Today, you will travel to Pokhara. The drive will be scenic and comfortable. We use a tourist-standard vehicle for our commute. Upon reaching Pokhara, the guide will help you check in at the hotel. Spend the remaining day exploring Phewa Lake and the Lakeside Market. Likewise, if you need to purchase anything for the trek, do it.

Drive from Pokhara to Hemja and trek to Hile Kharka via Ghachowk

You will leave Pokhara early in the morning and drive to Hemja. It will be around 30 minutes of the scenic ride. From Hemja, start hiking to Ghachowk. It is an easy hike through small villages and farmlands.

On the way, you can see beautiful rural scenery, including lush hills and snow-capped mountains. Ghachowk is a lovely little Gurung village. The view of the Annapurna range is outstanding from here.

Further, the trail continues to Hile Kharka. The trail gradually becomes steeper as you ascend. You will walk through lush forests of oak and rhododendron.

Trek from Hile Kharka to Khumai Danda

From Hile Kharka, you will ascend to Khumai Danda. The trail is steep, so you have to be extra careful. Leaving Hile Kharka, you will ascend north, following forested hills and passing by small villages.

As you get close to Khumai Danda, the views get better and better. Upon reaching the danda, you will see a breathtaking panorama of several mountains, including Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Fishtail, Mardi Himal, Nilgiri, etc.

Hike to Korchan Danda and down to Ghachowk and drive to Pokhara

Today is the last day of the trek. From Khumai Danda, you will hike to Korchan Danda to see a gorgeous sunrise and one last spectacular panorama of the western Himalayan mountains in Nepal.

The trail is steep and rocky. Upon reaching Korchan Danda, relish a wonderful sunrise with heavenly views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Spend some time at the top and descend to Ghanchowk following the same trail.

It will take you 1-2 hours to descend, depending on your pace. From Ghanchowk, you will drive back to Pokhara. The rest of the evening is free in the city. You can go for a post-hike massage, spa treatment, or shopping.

Drive back to Kathmandu in a comfortable tourist bus

You will leave Pokhara early in the morning and drive back to Kathmandu. Follow the same scenic highway back to Kathmandu. You will arrive in Kathmandu by early/mid-afternoon.

Spend the remaining time in the city relaxing and exploring a few tourist sites. Garden of Dreams, Monkey Temple, and Kathmandu Durbar Square are situated closest to Thamel. You should definitely visit these places.
