Trip Overview
John Hunt along with Hillary, Tenzing Sherpa and George Lowe were The 9th British team to have discovered the bustling town of Jiri for what it is today, way back in 1953. And this led to the successful expedition to Everest later. Going by the Jiri trail is a great experience for those who want a change to the scary flights to Lukla instead for a thrilling trip to Everest Base Camp; Jiri is a small commercial village town in the eastern region of Nepal which supplies essential commodities to the locals in the area. The Jiri trail is a wonderful source of mid-hill scenery and cultural insights into the rural life of villages that we come across on our way to EBC…it’s a fantastic experience which sets us up for the trip of a lifetime…we couldn’t expect anything less from this great venture.

Trip Information
The altitudes fall and rise at different levels, and the dissimilar floras and faunas, with the curious but interesting ethnic cultures and native lifestyles make the highlights of this trek something that can go into our notepads. Our trails cut across the middle hills which give us some fantastic hindsight into Nepal’s unique rural culture on the mountains as we trundle by legendary off-beaten tracks that not many venture into these days across the vast Himalayas of this landlocked nation. The regal vistas of the mountains, coupled with the enthralling landscapes decorated with lovely rhododendron, magnolia and alpine forests stir our emotional experiences on this wonder trip.
Certain parts of this odyssey go through some serene stretches from Jiri to Phakding, the trail runs into quiet hamlets with flowing meadows dotted with little colorful villages that bring a peaceful experience with its composed surroundings and gentle landscapes. However, includes a pretty lot of uphill/downhill walking, and as we gain elevation, we come across many inhabited villages with welcoming Sherpa folks which gives us great opportunities to interact with the locals and learn of their lifestyles and traditions in some of these remote outposts of the Khumbu region…its very engrossing listening to their tales and the superstitions that prevail in abundance on these huge mountains, and some of the stories can be pretty frightening if we allow our imaginations to run wild…
Some of the added attractions of the Everest Base Camp trek include entering into the Sagarmatha National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site), billed as one of the highest National Parks in the world, strolling into friendly Sherpa villages near the bustling Namche Bazaar, Phakding and the exceptional climbing of the icon peak of Kalapatthar at (5,545 m/18,187 ft). ‘Family Adventure Treks and Expeditions’’ is your ideal escort for this unforgettable journey as we enjoy our trip from ‘Jiri to Everest Base Camp’’…it’s a trek that will steal your heart…
