People suffering from different medical conditions such as heart and lung diseases are not recommended for this trek.

Accommodation for Tamang Heritage Trek

Accommodation here ranges from basic to standard. Trekking permit

Visitors will have to get a trekking permit that differs for each region that you will be walking. As a foreign trekker you  need to have relevant permits to be eligible to enter the Langtang region.  It is to be applied only through an authentic company. You need following permits:

  • Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS)

For the safety of all trekkers arribing in Nepal one must acquire TIMS before the start of their journey. Hence, the first thing an aspiring trekker should do is make the required permit as TIMS is the most important permit to enter any trekking route in Nepal. It keeps the track of trekkers so as to ensure their safety; and support the necessary search and rescue operations in case of emergency. You can get TIMS permit in Kathmandu anywhere in Thamel. To apply for the TIMS permit you will need to bring both your passport as well as two passport sized photos.

Nepal Visa

All foreigners are required to have Nepal VISA to enter Nepal except Indians and unlike  many other countries getting a VISA in Nepal is easier and faster. Eligible citizens of some countries can get an  On Arrival Visa at Tribhuwan International Airport or immigration checkpoints along Nepal-India and Nepal-Tibet borders which has very simple and quick procedure. They bear multiple re entry facility. To apply for an on arrival visa, you need a passport with six months of validity, a passport size photo and fees (current fee: USD 50 for 30 day stay). SAARC countries (Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Pakistan, Sri Lanka)  and Chinese citizens as well as children below 10 years of age (except US citizen) are also eligible for free visas(Gratis Visa) with certain restrictions. However, the visitors must be aware of the bondage and other requirements. You can extend the VISA or change the VISA at the Department of Immigration from both Kathmandu and Pokhara.

Tamang Heritage Trekking Detail Itinerary


01
Day 01: Kathmandu arrival

Our representative will be waiting for you outside the terminal of Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu (1400m)  upon your arrival with our company’s sign board. You will be driven to your chosen accommodation (ride of 10 -15 min around Thamel) and given the detailed itinerary.

Day 02: Kathmandu to Syabrubesi

Your journey to Tamang Heritage Trek begins with a relaxing ride from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1460m). As we wind up to Dhunche (2030m), the district head quarter of Rasuwa via Trishuli river you can appreciate the picturesque landscapes, rivers, terraces, beautiful mountain summits and local villages of Nepalese style. Prepare yourselves for bumpy roads by local bus for 12-14 hours and to Land cruiser(6-7 hrs drive). You’ll be spending the night in a local tea house.

Day 03: Syabrubesi to Gatlang

After an early fresh breakfast, you’ll begin your first day of trek. In about 3 hrs, you can reach Ronga Bhanjyang. Along the route you can have splendid view of Ganesh Himal, Gosaikunda range and Goljung valley. After quick break and an additional 3 hrs hike you finally arrive in Gatlang (2238m). You may explore the culture and custom of Tamang community.

Day 04: Gatlang to Tatopani

Next day begin your trek from Gatlang to Tatopani (2607m). Gradually descending along ridge of Bamdang Khola you can reach Chilime after around 2 hrs trek. Have fun crossing a suspension bridge (450m long) to the village of Gongang. After you continue to climb steep uphill, you can finally reach Tatopani and can take natural soothing bath in the serene hot spring.

Day 05: Tatopani to Thuman

You will continue your trek through lush rhododendron forest after early breakfast passing through Brimdang. Travelling through the ups and down you will arrive at Nagthali Ghyang in about 5hrs. There are several monasteries you can visit about 3 meters away through zigzag trail. The last stop for today is Thuman (2338m) where you can experience warm Tamang hospitality and participate in cultural activities like Tamang dance and music performances.

Day 06: Thuman to Timure

Today you will trek along a ridge to Timure (1762m) which takes 5 hrs of walk via descending to Bhotekoshi river through Dalphedi. You can view down valley on your way and sense the hefty influences of Tibetan during your stay.

Day 07: Timure to Briddhim

The trek to Briddhim (2229m) begins with gradual descent through woodlands and panoramic view of mountains along with lush rhododendron forest. The climb takes 6 hrs of walk through Lingthing. After an early breakfast you’ll head up to Rasuwagadi (1814m), a fort on Nepal-Tibet border. Eventually, you will return back to Timure and continue your hike to Briddhim and spend the night in tea guesthouses.

Day 08: Briddhim to Syabrubesi

After enjoying your time in Briddhim you’ll start your trek back to Syabrubesi (1460m) passing through several bamboo and birch forests and rural settlements. Along the path you may have a rare chance encounter with red pandas and Hiamlayan tahr. Passing through Wangal it takes around 3 hrs to finally arrive in Syabrubesi. Finally, you have finished your fantastic trek in the mountains.

Day 09: Syabrubesi to Kathmandu

Rise early for breakfast and be ready to drive back to Kathmandu. Your Tamang Heritage Trek comes to an end. Enjoy your 12-14 hrs (by local bus) or 6-7 hrs( by private land cruiser) drive back reviewing the Trishuli Bazar, local Nepalese villages, rivers , high hills and more. After relieving your exhaustion you can spend the evening exploring Thamel’s market and other tourist spots.

Day 10: Final Departure

Today one of our company’s representative will assist you to the airport when it is time for your flight. We wish you luck and safe travels in your back home. Hope you enjoyed our time together. We bid you sincere farewell.
